We're coming to AC in April/May.

Any advice about times to aim for/avoid in those months?
Also, is there any benefits/pitfalls to certain arrival/departure days of the week?
We're hoping to do a day or two in Belize City at the beginning or end of our trip. Not sure yet which makes more sense. Anyone with tips or advice on this?

Glad we found this forum - I'm sure we'll have lots of questions as the trip gets closer.

Easter week can be real busy, need to book ahead for that time frame. May is dryer & hotter, but rates usually go down and it is not as busy. If you want to do a few days in Bz City, do it at the end of the trip - doesn't make a very good first impression.

The first of June is the start of Hurricane Season. I only mention this because Tropical Storm Arthur hit the island last year pretty much on June 1st. I know because I was there. We were not in danger just had to dodge rainstorms for 3 days.

Something to keep in mind.

We came and stayed a month in June. I had my 10 yr old twin boys and my 18 yr old daughter and 23 year old niece. it was hot but we liked June there were many older kids and kids out and about due to it was summer time. I would recommend summer months if you are bringing older kids. I came back for a time in July then moved for 4 months to SP from Aug. to end of Dec. That is slow time and we enjoyed being in SP when it was not peek season. I can tell you the weather was nice in Dec. and I am sure Jan, Feb. and March is the best time to visit but that is peek season.

May is a gorgeous month to be here. Right before the rains. Not too windy, not too hot, not too busy. Why you would want to actually spend nights in the city is hard to comprehend though.

Why do you want to spend time in Belize City? What do you plan to do there? April and May are both wonderful months.

The city is great for day trips to the museum and Old Belize - beyond that there really aren't any decent attractions for a tourist to enjoy.

Gail - I didn't 'di' your city. I asked a question. But then maybe you were not talking to me. LOL

I like the Riverside Tavern (good food and a nice place), The Radisson Hotel (Wonderful service and food) and the Princess Hotel & Casino (Movies, bowling alley, casino and a nice dock bar & grill.) in Belize City.
Old Belize is just OK and would be a bit of a taxi ride for tourists, unless they can catch a cruise ship van in town going there.
I have had some amazing Chinese food in BC, but can't remember any of the restaurant names. The Celebrity Restaurant is very good also.
Gail, what would you recommend for a couple to do in Belize City for two days?
