Does anyone know what to do in this situation?

I am a US resident living in Belize. My last flight down was round trip, but I didn't take the last leg within the given timeframe (I think it's 120 days), so I lost credit. Now, when I return to the US, am I allowed to book a round trip from Belize to the US?

Yes but you will have to show a Belize work permit or Belize residency.

JZB - Really? They never ask me for anything and I have been doing this for 3 or 4 years.

If you are not a legal resident or citizen of Belize then you are required to purchase an on-going or return ticket. When you arrive in Belize you will typically be granted only 30 days to stay in the country.

You are expected to establish residency if you live in Belize - then you can easily buy return tickets from Belize.

If you are a resident of the US often times you will be better off buying tickets from the US when they are cheap - even if you need to sacrifice one leg.

Snoopysmom - even though you didn't use your ticket with 120 days you could have rebooked for another 6 months (or a year)depending on the type of ticket you bought - or claimed a credit minus $100.

Thanks everyone - this is what I thought (once I had to pay $300 just to change my return flight to under 30 days as it was slightly over).

I will look into getting credit as this still sounds like the best option!

If you are over 30 days you can ask for an extension at any Immigration office. The charge is $25.00US.

Great news - the airline (Delta) gave me credit even with my being over the time limit (it's a family health emergency). Guess it never hurts to ask smile
Thanks for your help everyone!
