Hello Everyone!
My girlfriend and I have decided to some something really spur of the moment and book a flight to Belize. Neither of us have been, although I have really really good things about it. We want to relax, do some snorkling, some sightseeing, maybe go fishing 1 day. Who knows. We are totally playing this by ear. The main goal is go get away from Dallas for a while, do something new and I think this might be the place to do it.

Here's what I need some help with.
We will arrive on Thurs Dec. 7th and depart Mon Dec. 11th.
Accomodations: We'd like to stay pretty cheap (< $100 per night.) We don't need anything fancy. Should I make reservations somewhere now or just wing it once we get there? Which places are reccommended?
How popular is it this this of the year? Should I be worried about it being crowded?

How easy it is to book a fishing trip, or go snorkling? Again, is this something I should take care of in advance?

If you were to get advice to a Belize newcomer, what would it be?

Thanks for any help you can give. I am really looking forward to the trip.

Hey you will have a great time in San Pedro.
Personally I would book my room now.
Bookings of your fishing and snorkeling trips can be done when your arrive.
You have made an excellent choice to vacation in Belize.

Sounds like an awesome idea - I'm doing the same thing but arriving 3 days after you leave. Check out Ruby's and Lillie's - Ruby's has clean rooms as low as US$15/night, Lillie's (where I'm staying) is around US$50/night.

Check out //www.ambergriscaye.com/pages/lodge/lodgingprice.html for detail and phone #'s.

Have fun!!

Hell, for a hundred bucks you can stay at my place! Seriously though, you should find a room now. 4 days here ain't enough either. I'd extend that a few if possible. Corona Del Mar might be able to help. Ask for Helen. Hideaway is full as far as I know, but worth a try. Mayan Princess is a little pricey but very nice. No problem getting a tour at the last minuet. Come see us!

hey jp, coconuts nice reasonably priced place to stay. it`s close enough to town to easily walk there in 15 minutes on the beach. the pepole there are really great and they have the best beach bar. i was there last may and remarried my ex wife it was really cool. enjoy you can`t go wrong. allthough the barge is a little noisy.

I second coconuts-complementary breakfast, nice beach bar (the barge is the daily entertainment), nice rooms and great staff. if david can't do it for you it probably can't be done on a/c.

have fun

Sounds like a great plan to me...do you like
the action or a quieter setting...Lilies was
way too noisey for us this summer but the
price was right for the amount of time we
were staying....3 weeks....Corona del Mar,
ask for Woody or Helen 2055 and they have
nice apts. plus you can cook your own fish,
some meals, etc. How cheap is Coconuts...???
we are looking for something besides Lilies
too for next trip. I haven't checked out
Rubies for a long time...but didn't they
renuvate some??? What are their prices $$
now??? Take two swimsuits...jumping into a
damp one is very, very comfortable...also
take a light weight jacket or windbreaker and
a poncho for the rain....but by all means...
ENJOY....YOU'LL LOVE IT AND SAY HI TO LINDSEY
AT MY FAVORITE GIFT/ART SHOP....BELIZEAN ARTS
IN FIDO'S COURTYARD ON FRONT ST.!!! terrific
things and Fido's also has good food....
