Hello All!

My wife and I are planning a trip to AC in January. We're looking to do about 5 days of diving before heading off to check out the rest of the country. What we're looking for is somewhere that offers packages to the budget traveller. Anybody have any info as to where I should look? Am I right in assuming that high season is starting up December onwards? Would I be better to be diving from Placencia or somewhere cheaper?

Thanks,

Matt

Me and my husband are going to be staying in San Pedro in January we are going very budget and staying at Ruby's for $15 U.S. per night, never been there, but you can find lots of info. on Ruby's from this and other sites if you want to check it out.

The Hideaway is another great choice. They can do packages that include meals and they have a pool. It's nice to be able to just soak after a day in salt water. It's just a short walk up the beach to Amigos Del Mar who can handle all your dive trips.
Whatever you choose, have a great time!

Hideaway does have great discount rates...and really good homecooking.
The only draw back is....it's a little bit out of town. If you don't mind walking a lot it's great.
I'm assuming if your trying to save money, you'd rather not rent a golf cart or pay a bundle in Taxi's.

I wouldn't say it's a short walk to Amigos Del Mar.....a good 30 minutes at a reasonable pace. Not bad if it's a leisure walk.....but if your in a rush to get to a dive....it could work up a good sweat. Remember, it's hot here....LOL

You could also dive with Bottom Time Dive Shop.....a little closer to the Hideaway....and very good. Ask for divemaster Rudy...and tell him Tammy sent you. He's great...my first divemaster in Belize....and a good friend now.

Some budget places in town you can look at are:
Ruby's, Coral Beach, Spindrift, Lily's and Conch Shell.

Look under the lodging section of this website. There is a link at the top of the page.

If you want to save money and are not picky about having the absolute best in accomodations....I would look at the budget places in town so you can save on transportation and be close to everything.
Save your money for your diving!

Have a great trip! [Linked Image]

Sandshaker has failed to tell you that any dive shop will pick you up at the dock nearest your hotel... so distance from hotel to dive shop is not a consideration. The Hideaway is a very pleasant walk from town along the beach.

Pardon me.......Jesse is absolutely right.

I should have said......It's a pretty good hike to town.....although not a bad one...and with great scenery.

Yes...that would be more accurate.
