The Belize Karate Federation will be hosting the “Belize Karate Peace March and Championship” that will be held this Sunday February 8th. The Peace March which will start at the corner of Faber’s Road and Central American Blvd at 7:00am, will make its way to the City Center and will consist of karatecas from all over the country in their Karate attire. The March marks the beginning of the Championship. The objective is to unify the Karate family in Belize to show our solidarity and concern for the escalading violence in Belize and to promote peace by emphasizing brotherhood and respect, which of course are values instilled in our Discipline.
The Championship begins immediately upon the arrival of the March (8:30am) at the City Center and will have the participation of the Salvadoran National Team, a team from Peten Guatemala and Karatecas from various clubs in Belize. Sensei Oswald Mata, president of the Central American Karate Federation and vice-president of the Central American and Caribbean Karate Federation will also be attending the Championship.
The Categories for the Individual Kata Competition are: Cadets, Youths and Adults in both male and female division. There will also be a Team Kata Category. In Kumite, Categories will also be Cadets, Youths and Adults, but will further be divided by weight groups in the male and female divisions.
