BTIA San Pedro Chapter Held AGM & Professional Training Session

The San Pedro Chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry Association (BTIA) conducted its Annual General Meeting at the Holiday Hotel on January 28, followed by a training session at Banana Beach Resort (El Divino) for approximately 30 industry professionals.
The AGM resulted in the election of a new board as follows: Julie Babcock of Caye Casa - Chairperson, Catherine Paz of Tropic Air - Vice Chairperson, Javier Williams of Victoria House - Treasurer, Laura Pacheco of The Villas at Banyan Bay - Secretary, and Brent Kirkman of Victoria House - Director.
The outgoing board presented the accomplishments for the year, and several discussions followed about key issues such as airline challenges, marketing, service standards and training. The event's main guest speaker was Dionne Chamberlain-Miranda, President of the Belize Tourism Industry Association. Among several hotel representatives, BTIA National staff were also in attendance: Nicole Solano, Executive Director, Maynor Larrieu, Marketing Director and Laura Almora-Soberanis, Membership/Administrative Officer.
The afternoon training session was entitled "Professional Business Behavior", and had the participation from thirty front desk and customer service employees from more than 15 properties. Dionne Chamberlain-Miranda, through her company, Chamberlain Consulting, conducted the training.
Chamberlain Consulting has agreed to sponsor a total of 12 personalized trainings for BTIA Chapters countrywide. The trainings are intended to promote institutional strengthening for the destination chapters since proceeds will remain with the chapters.
