Chip Steele was a very highly respected East Coast jumper. He trained thousands of skydivers over the years.
Having a heart attack can happen to anyone. He had passed an FAA medical exam recently.
I'm glad he had a heads up passenger that landed safely.
Sad, a great guy that spent his life promoting our sport.
And again, like I always say. Skydiving isn't lawn bowling.

He had a peaceful death doing what he loved. Not so bad! Although rather too young.

Myself, I'd rather go too young doing something that I love, than linger in unhappiness or bad health.

I agree with reaper about the "heads up passenger" and probably should have said so. That guy had the adventure of a lifetime too.
