Just have a few questions as I will be new on Ambregris Caye. 1. I am looking for a good builder to construct my house,
2. Need the rules and regulations about building a dock going into the sea as I know the water is queensland maybe somebody can help me out.
3. Also are you able to build permanent structures in the water as well.
4. Does Ambregris Caye have a semi pro soccer team as I have played all over the world and would like to continue playing soccer in Belize.

I would hire someone to give you all the gossip on everyone. It will save you tons of money. Live on the island for a few months before spending any money or hiring any builder. Just my 2 cents.

1) - 3) All best researched in detail when here, but the board is great for some ideas and starting points.

4) San Pedro Dolphins are the local semi pro team. Where have you played and for anyone well known. We had an ex English Premier League Player one year playing for a mainland team - he got the living poop kicked out of him.

1) How often does Belize get hit with a Hurricane or anything of that magnitude.

2)When I was 13 I played for the U-14 Southhampton Team. When I was 14 played U-15 Tottenham team. Played with the Brampton Stallions of the CPSL (Canadian Professional Soccer League), Indiana Blast of the A-League, and some team in Mexico on a 10 day contract until there goalie returned from his injury. And other then that just played Competitively all over Canada.

Dean hit Corozal in 2007. Iris hit Placencia in 2001. Keith hit San Pedro in 2000. Mitch just missed in 1998 but was a monster and caused problems, Hattie hit Belize City in 1961. Janet hit Corozal in 1951. Lots of near misses and storm surge but five hits in sixty years or so for the whole country, and one in San Pedro was a factor in our choice to move here as we're not in the Hurricane belt and don't get anything like Cuba, Jamaica Caymans etc.

So you're a keeper - often a problem spot for the Dolphins and not so likely you'll get kicked off the park. Come on down.

Lan - the record above is wrong on at least one stat .......at least 4 people died in Keith in Belize. All were riding out the storm on boats.
Also note that all the dead in Iris were people on boats too.

Diane,

Thanks for the correction. I see some news sources put the official toll in Belize from Keith at 5 (though Wikipedia puts it at 19, 5 in boats and 14 from flooding).

I will be moving to the Westside of AC. And also regaring the Goalie situation, I can only play for the Dolphins once I have a house set up. Trying to get down there within 20 months but I do not know any good construction companies. If I was to build a would house do I have to worry about any sort of hurricanes tearing it apart or should I go concrete. How good are the dolphins, what I mean is do they get a good crowd out to the games and what kind of pitch do they play on cause somes pics I see all the teams are playing in half sand half grass pitches.
