My fiance and I are flying into Belize city in a few weeks. We are planning to take tropic air to San Pedro when we arrive, but just to save some extra $ were wondering if it is possible to take a water taxi back to Belize the day we depart? is there a space for luggage? will the luggage get soaked? Whats the best option? Thanks and cant wait to get there!

The water taxi service to Belize City is easy and efficient. The staff are helpful and you should have no problem with your luggage. They will find space. I tend to use San Pedro Express. Their number is 226 2194. I find their boats clean and comfortable. You will need to get a taxi from the boat dock to the airport. Whether or not this is cost efficient, I'm not sure.

I take the boat now. For $15.00US r/t it's so worth it. The flight from BZE is $120.75US. Both are nice and offer different perspectives of the cayes.

I did end up with a wet bum recently when it had been raining heavily but I was impressed that the staff met me at the dock with an umbrella and escorted me to the boat. I do a lot of shopping and carry it with me and never had it get wet.

We visit AC often and always take the water taxi with our luggage. We have used Caye Caulker water taxi and San Pedro express. Both have always ben easy to use and we have never had a problem with our luggage getting wet. I do put my laptop in a special waterproof bag just to be safe. I have also used Tropic Air when my flight gets in late and I miss the water taxi and we have chartered private boats. By far the most cost effective way is the water taxi. I think all visitors should take the water taxi at least once to see the area.

Kato22,
it doesn't hurt to carry plastic trash bags, just in case. The bags don't take up much room and weigh almost nothing. Cheap insurance if you want your gear to stay dry.
