Arriving in late January, is everything up & running on the north end-especially Casa Caribe? Also just how isolated will we be up there, will the location hamper our night live in town? How about the misquitoes since the hurricane-are they bad in Janury?

Casa Caribe is a ways up and yes, you may
have a problem or two, but the island ferry
runs from Fido's Dock to Journey's end every
two hours from 8:00 in the morning until
9 at night from Fido's north. Water taxis
are expensive...

Mosquitoes...prepare and prepare some more
by 100% if you are very susceptible to bites,
wear long cotton pants/shirt, etc. In the
evening it can also get cool this time of the
year.

Island Ferry only runs to Journeys End which is still several miles from Casa Caribe.

We just returned from Casa Caribe and had no problems getting water taxis. The Casa Caribe boat runs three times a day and if we wanted to go in town when their boat didn't run we had no problems getting picked up at Casa Caribe or taken from town to Casa Caribe. The taxis at Fidos dock will take you there for $10 US.The ride takes about 20 minutes.Casa Caribe is in good shape but they did loose their dive shop on their dock.

Just to warn you, the bugs are AWFUL. In all of the nine places I've been in the Caribbean, Belize had the most mosquitos. Bring tons of bug protection, and try to stay indoors or where tons of bug spray from at about 6-8 in the morning and 5-7 at night. Those were the worst times
