What is the best way to call back to the U.S. (Chicago) when visiting A.C.?

I just received my phone bill from the calls I've made so far to the island (for reservations, etc.) and was taken back at the very high cost of calls.

the san pedro post office sells phone cards, i've used them and they are fairly inexpensive and easy to use.

yup. phone cards. nearly all calling cards from the US don't work. our excel cards don't.
