What are some typical rates for using land taxis for getting around? I'm staying at the Tides in 10 days, and don't want to rent a cart for the time I'm there.
For instance, are there any set rates, or will it be what they think they can get? Or am I supposed to haggle?

Example, The Tides to Crazy Canucks.

Thanks

Gerry

If there isn't something physically holding you back, walk it. The Tides to Crazy Canucks wouldn't be much more than ten minutes by way of the beach.

The walk there actually was less of a concern than wobbling home.

Don't know that walking the beach to Crazy Canuk's after dark is the best idea anymore.

I agree with Seashell, crime doesn't go on vacation.Ask the price before you get in.If you telephone them ask on the phone, not recommending haggle after they arrive. You could however flag one down and haggle and that is a busy road.
It may Cost you about 10-5 U.S. for a taxi, ask Ali at the bar; and he will call a taxi.Enjoy the walk there, the weather is great.See you there!

There is no need to haggle - it is not a custom here. The fares are set prices. Like from Central Park to the bridge is $7. It used to be that anyplace was a flat $5 but a couple of years ago that went up due to the price of gas. AND that is $7 BZ. If you act dumb and ask if it is US they may act dumb and say yes.
This is very cheap and if you are out drinking and need a taxi home the bar tender should call a taxi for you and if it would make you more comfortable clear the price with him.

Unless things have changed severely in the few weeks I've been away I'd certainly walk it. I wouldn't do that alone late at night and I'd certainly be vigilant, but that walk is still safer than many you might take back home.

I don't think I agree that the fares are set prices. I seem to pay a different fare every time I go from Coral Bay to/from the airport.
