We thought we'd be too tired after diving for a week to do anything that strenuous for 8 hours. I had thought about the ruins because that's a half-day trip and is included in our Nekton deal, but wondered if there was something we really shouldn't miss in Belize City. What do ya think?

Ten hours is plenty of time to do something fun while you are on the mainland. Tell me what kind of things your group is looking for and I am sure we can make it a good time. When I lived in Belize City I worked at the Biltmore and had a tour operation, so that is what I did, found a way to entertain and keep guests happy by planning the daily event that suited them.

My personal unsolicited opinion:
Go to the ruins.
It's included in your package, you won't have to worry about any details. I don't know which one you'd be going to, but with Lamanai - getting there is more than half the fun. If your tour includes a boat ride to the ruins - GO. That is how you can really see the country and its animals. Plus the ruins make for really good photo ops ;-)
