I was also looking for a good day trip for snorkeling/boozing and I saw that you "endorsed" the Winnie Estelle? Is this the best for the buck?

Abzalootely. Again, some people would prefer a more intimate trip on a smaller boat with 4-6 people and the cost would be similar. Have you ever done The Silent Lady out of Lamainai on Maui? These are smaller, classy, historical vessels that can make a landlubber feel like an Old Salt.

If Hustler Tours still has the Me Too catamaran, that is also a nice way to travel, sailing to Caye Caulker, rum punch is comp and you snorkel at several stops. I always take my groups on the cat trip and they love it. I don't know what the charge is now, but it use to be around $40-45 for the entire day.

Ditto on the "Me Too" Catamaran with Hustler Tours. They were wonderful. We had a very nice time sailing and our two boys LOVED it. I think what I liked best is that Hustler fitted you to a mask at the dock before we left. They didn't just hand you one. Nothing worse that getting out to the reef and having your mask leak because it doesn't fit right. They even had smaller ones for the boys. I really appreciated that!
