Over the last few weeks I have crossed the bridge while one lane was blocked off and there was no traffic control. Today at 1:45 this was the condition. As I neared the top I met a cart coming from the north so I backed down to the bottom and let him pass.

Then as I was almost across the workers under the span let loose with a blast of sand and rocks and sprayed me and my passenger. The stuff embedded itself into my scalp, neck, left side of my face and my left arm. It really really hurt! There was a small pile of material piled on the floor of my cart and the rocks are very pointed and quartz like.

I called the town board and reported it. A small child could be seriously hurt or someone could have their eye put out. Lucky for me I wear glasses.

A few weeks ago when we were crossing the bridge on foot, we were pelted with debris as well, it didn't feel so great so I know what you mean. I hope you are okay now.

Sand Blasting. Experienced it passing under the bridge too. It's not only painful it creates a cloud that is blinding. Why don't these guys put up lights and do this at night.
This project should be done by now.

Just as dangerous in another way was the drag line from the dredge project.

These activities need supervisors who are alert and thinking.

Almost every road in San Pedro was paved in a matter of 9 months and fairly a safely and efficiently in my opinion. I agree an experienced project manager must supervise these town council projects - it will be a BIG mess when someone loses an eye. That job should have happened in 5 nights... bridge closed from 9am to 6am - 10 men working.

Safety first! That wouldn't be happening on a union job. The first time a worker did that there would be a serious talking to the offending worker. The second time he would and might be "thrown off the job". And maybe have his lights put out first. Stuff like blasting debris or high pressure water and even air at high pressure is very dangerous.

I am in the safety and environmental field and maybe, I can give them a few pointers while I am there on vacation.

If it were a union job, the roads still wouldn't be done, they would have cost 100x more and the bridge construction wouldn't be started until after it collapsed. And sure it would be less likley that workers would be hurt, but that's only because there are 10 times as many on the job with most just standing around watching.
