Cinnamon Hummingbird in Zericote Tree

http://yobubba.livejournal.com/88564.html
Zericote (Cordia Dodecandra) or as the Maya call it, Chakopte, is a versatile tree of Belize.
It provides blossoms all year long so the little hummer stays the year round.
I'm not good at shooting hummingbirds , they move to fast., but i recently discovered the 'Limit' button on my auto focus lens and its helped tremendously.
but Barn still has me beat.

nice one elbert!
try manual focus,, pre-focus on a spot you know he will be at.
i gave up trying to keep up with them, focus wise.

edit: and i find that by opening up the f-stop as far as i can, gives a little breathing room if i miss the sweet spot.

Azbob,
I was trying to shoot a yellow butterfly. He flew away and this hummer showed up.
I wanted to make a post/record of the annual migration of these yellow butterflies. Each year since I've been here around june/july a constant flow of yellow butterflys travel north to south.I tried to est. how many roughly 5 to 10 pass every 5 min. day and night for weeks. They seem to be following the coast.
Hea Barn do they come by your place in the south?

One year after a few days of a few butterflies it was like it was snowing yellow butterflies. It lasted for days. Amid the masses of yellows there would be an occasional black on and once in a while an orange one.
As of now there is just a fairly constant scattering of them heading south.

yes they do. at times it is a constant flow just at the tree-line. they go south and then sometime later they go back north. sounds like they are headed this way?

i kinda cheat you know.
i have a feeder on my deck, i sit in a deck chair in the shade with the camera/tele on a monopod so it's easy to hold for hours.
then toss in the beer and it's definitely cheating!
