Hi everybody! As you all can probably tell, I'm a new user. I am looking into travelling to Belize for the first time with my 3 adult sisters and their husbands along with my mom and dad and my husband. We are looking for a villa or house that can host all ten people. Also, I'm assuming that you guys recommend staying on AC rather than the Mainland, right? 3rd thing, My mother is a nervous person when it comes to new places and adventures. Can you advise me on what to tell her to calm her nerves.
oh yeah! when is the best time of year to go. We usually do trips in the winter!? Thank you for any help
Skinny-We haven't made any arrangements yet, but am looking forward to seeing you perform already!!!!!

Familytrip:
We have just returned from our first visit to AC - it was better than everyone said as hard as that is to believe!
About your Mom's concerns. Tell her not to worry at all. While I'm sure there is some crime on AC ( just as a function of human nature ) we saw no sign of any such thing nor did we speak to anyone who had. Some common sense precautions that you would take no matter where you go.
#1: Don't unnecessarily flash large quantity's of cash: #2: Don't wear lots of flashy jewelry - why bother it's much more fun to be "laid back" and relax - who are you going to try and impress?
Basily thats it. We felt safe where ever we went, walking, by cab or golf cart.
Wild animals - on AC were saw a number of smaller dark gray Iguana's ( there more afraid of you then you are of them! )
There were several "beach dogs" but we never had a problem with them - they are friendly and cute - but no problem.
We saw no snakes, very very few bugs, no spiders etc. There should be no reason for your Mom to be concerned - its a great place and you will all have a great time! Byron

Thanks ByronV My mom takes word of strangers "whos been there" over mine.
Anybody else who has suggestions on the must things to do and places to eat are welcome. We are going with parents, but we all like to have a big party-time experience. I have seen most of the websites that make everything seem awesome, but we like to hear about them from people who have experienced them first hand.
Thanks

I'd recommend Caribe Island Resort, a ways south of town, but they had free use of Bikes for guests, when we were there in '98. A great place, you'll feel pampered. Your mom should feel comfortable everywhere on AC.The people are wonderful, and they seem happy and proud that visitors love their island , as much as they do.My first trip was in '96, at Mata Rocks. Glad to hear that ByronV enjoyed his stay there. Someday , hope to return to heaven on earth.

You might try Casa Manana as well. Jim Patterson owns the place and it's designed for a large family to move in and make themselves at home. Full kitchen and very nice. Don't know the price, but knowing Jim I'm sure ut's reasonable.

Victoria House also has a nice house that they rent. You can occupy the entire house, plus have the advantage of a restaurant, bar, guest services director, pool, staff, etc.
