I'll be vacationing in San Pedro for the first time and need some assistance re lodging. I have looked at the mid-priced facilities and have no problem with the rates. However, I want to make sure that I am making the right choice. Therefore, please I would truly appreciate some honest opinion and good suggestions from those who have already experienced the service from good facilities. Thank you.

Two things
1] a truism about resort areas is thta if the place is no good, then they'll be gone. The competition is too stiff to allow mediocre establishments.

2] Tell me where do you want to stay and I'll give you feed back as opposed to suggestions

Thanks much, Big Frank. I am planning on staying at Hotel Del Rio or Banana Resort. Your thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Big Frank -- thanks just the same. I'll go by your earlier response -- it carries a lot of logic.

Hi, thanks for the response. My selection was/is mainly based on what I read and see in the Ambergris Caye logdging ads: amenities and, definitely, rates. I am at a total loss concerning the area since this will be my first time in San Pedro. Any suggestions before I do my final booking? Would really be very grateful for any assistance. I come with enough funds, am not a spendthrift, and I want the best buy for the money. Is this possible?

Hiya.
Lots of great places to stay! Jeez... where to begin. I would suggest you surf through the resorts on the ambergriscaye.com LODGING link and narrow your choices. Believe me... the pictures alone will certainly help you eliminate a few right off the bat. When you come down to choosing among three or four, im sure youll gets lots of helpful pros and cons from the board. Good luck... its hard to make a bad choice!

Uh huh. Yep. That was me.

Therein lies the problem -- 99.9% of the places I viewed look very good -- and the rates are competitive. I truly feel like the dog with a gone in my mouth and bound to drop it at the sight of a better reflection. LOL! Thanks everyone -- I think I'll ponder and mull my delimma -- perhaps sleep on it for more than just a night even! OR, as someone here at the office suggested, I should jump into the island without anything preplanned and live and enjoy from day to day. Hmmmmm ... again, is that really practical?

Molto grazie!

I've never heard of Hotel del Rio but I've talked to people that were staying at Banana's and they were very enthusiastic about the place. However, most of the people I talked to thought it was a bit far from town. Keep in mind that I like to be near town myself and so would be relating to people like me. If you don't mind being so far from town then maybe that is a good choice. Help us out a little bit. What do you want besides mid-price? Do you want to be within walking distance (5 - 10 min) of the town restaurants and shopping? Do you want a kitchenette and so do some of your own cooking or snack making? Do you feel you need to have a pool?
