Some of the people in our group are not certified and do not have the time to get it done before we travel. Does anyone on AC offer certification? Thanks

Yep. There are a number of PADI certified shops on the island. Most people who need certification do their classromm/pool dives in their hometown, and deep water upon arrival in AC. Why not ask some of the dive shops? Try Larry Parker (www.reefdivers.com), or contact the Playador Hotel. They've got a shop called "Tuff E'nuff Tours" with a cool bunch of guys. Im sure either contact would be helpful.

Most of the dive shops offer certification...

if you have any time its possible to get the pool and classes done before you hit the island, then do the open water dives in Belize. That's what we did, when pool and book time was done, and it was time to jump in the ocean, our class went to the black 3 foot visibility of the Oregon coast (brrrrrrrr) and we went to beautiful Belize....

If you are looking for a PADI certified shop definitely contact Larry Parker of Reef Divers. My husband and I spent 2 1/2 weeks in Dec and Jan and got certified through his shop. Our instructor was Lorne Jackson and he was fantastic. We did the whole course in 4 days. I was scared to death through the whole
process but Lorne was amazing and allowed me all the time I needed to become comfortable with the whole process. Safety was his first concern. Enjoy your trip you will love Ambergris..
