I JUST TALKED TO JOE FROM JE AND YES THEY DID HAVE A FEW PROBLEMS WHEN THEY FIRST REOPENED IN JAN, BUT HE REASSURED ME SINCE I HAVE A GROUP GOING DOWN 2-22 THAT EVERYTHING IS UP AND RUNNING AND PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SOLVED. JC IS A GREAT PLACE. I WAS THERE LAST YEAR AND LOVED IT, THE PEOPLE WERE GREAT AND FOOD EXCELLENT.

I would just add that over the years at Belize First Magazine and also as I watch what people report on the Internet, Journey's End is one of those places that gets mixed reports. Some people like it, some people don't.

Quite a number of places in Belize get consistently positive feedback -- probably 95%+ positive. (You can't ever please everybody.)

But JE is one where negative reports just keep popping up. Not every report by any means, but enough, and from different types of people over a period of several years, so that it raises a red flag. Quite often the resort will address the issue, try to resolve the problem, put some money into renovations or whatever, but then later on the issues reappear.

The resort has had some good local management people there in the past, but I think for one thing the ownership in Houston is just too distant to make this property work consistently well. It's also a large resort (by Belize standards) so it takes a more professional operation, and a good bit of capital, to run it. Of course luck plays a role -- it got hit harder than most by Hurricane Keith. Bad luck seems to have plagued this place going way back to the "resort for the rich and famous days" of the early 90s when it was under different ownership.

They may have reassured you but they did for us too and they were months from being ready. The bottom line is that they will tell you anything you want to here. Dont beleive it as we had 60 peole there and it was horrible. They hardly even batted an eye at all of our complaints, etc.

We're going to JER...I understand that everyhone has different opinions. Just to justify my trip..how about some positive comments...CAPT MARTY? Anyone. Also, what's this about salt water showers. Jonathan at JER has been answering all of my questions very quickly. The water and fishing is 99% of the reason for going...of course...restaurant/food is important to. Again, appreciate comments...Thanks...

Deborah S... you mentioned that you spoke with JE and was told everything is fine, etc... You may have noticed that Loves2fish JUST returned from there... and he has listed everything that was wrong... there isn't THAT much fixing in the world in a few days...

Sorry but Johnsthon is the one who gave us all of the info on JE that turned out not to be true. I would not base any decision on what he tells you ... but rather on real experience of people recently there.

If you want the positive side, the staff there (except for the manager Jim and the help in the front office) were trying really hard. Kent and Freddie at the bar took care of us for drinks and meals and they were fantastic !

Other than that, there weren't any positives !
