I would just add that over the years at Belize First Magazine and also as I watch what people report on the Internet, Journey's End is one of those places that gets mixed reports. Some people like it, some people don't.
Quite a number of places in Belize get consistently positive feedback -- probably 95%+ positive. (You can't ever please everybody.)
But JE is one where negative reports just keep popping up. Not every report by any means, but enough, and from different types of people over a period of several years, so that it raises a red flag. Quite often the resort will address the issue, try to resolve the problem, put some money into renovations or whatever, but then later on the issues reappear.
The resort has had some good local management people there in the past, but I think for one thing the ownership in Houston is just too distant to make this property work consistently well. It's also a large resort (by Belize standards) so it takes a more professional operation, and a good bit of capital, to run it. Of course luck plays a role -- it got hit harder than most by Hurricane Keith. Bad luck seems to have plagued this place going way back to the "resort for the rich and famous days" of the early 90s when it was under different ownership.
