I understand that many Belizeans have cement block houses. How much does it cost per square foot to build a house like this if you build it yourself?
Thanks!

Sorry for being so brief, had to step out. Building here, is very different than any where else you have been accustomed to building. You don't want to fail, it is about a $100 dollars a square ft. Now the price per ft differs by location and your taste. If you are a contractor it would be best to be on site to make sure all goes as planned. I am a licensed contractor from the states, take my advice I've done it. E-mail me and we can talk if ya like.

Can you give me some idea how much one cement block costs (in USA dollars)?

Are you saying that it is much more expensive to build a cement block house there than in the USA? Why?

I thought many of the native Belizeans have simple cement block houses? How then do they afford them?

Do these cement block houses get mold on them easily in Belize, more so than in Texas?

THanks!

Is it cheaper to build in the Cayo district around Spanish Lookout?

How much are cement blocks in that area?

Have you been down to Belize and spent time in any of the places your asking about. I know that I found the place I wanted to live then found out what it would cost to build what I wanted. There are different problems to be solved everywhere you build. If you are looking to build a basic shelter is different than some of the larger houses in San Pedro. There are more and more building regulations that impact on what you build. Getting the cost of cement blocks is just one component of the building. If your going to research material costs you should be on the ground so you get real prices at the location where the house is to be built.

Good answer, maybe we should just rent first.

How do I find out about rentals in Spanish Lookout?

Anybody know?

Thanks!
