Who is preferred to do the hop to AC, Tropic or Mayan Air, or does it even make a difference? Also in May, is a res even necessary? Thanks to all in advance.

Actually, either does the job great with numberous flights throughout the day. I would play it safe with a reservation...

Both are good, Tropic has newer planes, Maya has more twin engines, older Islander models flown by Maya are more fun for the short flight and generally fly lower and you can see more. Either are good, used both many times and have walked up to counter without reservations and gotten on the next flight many times. All this said the tourist travel to AC is growing and may be more demand for seats. Get to Belize soon.
