Hi, I am travelling to AC March 12-16 and am trying to decide between Coconuts (farther from town but includes breakfast) and Holiday Hotel (in town but no breakfast. Both cost the same. I am up for any other suggestions. By the way how far away is coconuts??? Thanks for your help.

I think it's pretty much a toss-up. I'd probably opt for Coconuts myself, but the Holiday Hotel is fine, too (and one of the hotels on the island with a real history.)

casa,
Coconuts is a great place. We have stayed there several times, and still use it as a more than adequate "backup" for traveling companions when we run out of space down the beach. It is about a lazy 15 minute or less stroll to town. There are enough places to eat within 5 minutes that you will not go hungry. (One of our favorites..the Patio is less than 75 yards away. Woody has a new restaurant out Coconut's back door. Food WILL NOT be a problem. The place is great and the beach bar has been known to be deadly.
Enjoy yourself.

We stayed at Coconuts last year and it was great! The nicest people ever, the best bar on the beach and super rates. It is not a "honeymoon" sort of place, pretty basic with the accomodations but AC in the room, great views on the beach, a wonderful Contental breakfast, and as I said, a super beach bar. It is a great stay for the buck!

and I forgot...Choochoo is correct...The Patio is a wonderful restaurant and rolling out the door distance from Coconuts. I walked into town with no stress on the old hips, bought the fresh-made tortillas and stopped into Coconets to check out the e-mail. The whole place is Paradise and you will love it. Everything and everybody is wonderful.

Thanks for the info...I sent in my reservation-confirmation for Coconuts today. Wow, only one week before I take off. I am going to Costa Rica for one week before Belize.

Casa, Please post a report when you are back. I am really curious as to how Belize and Costa Rica compare. We are currently trying to decide between the two for a 2 week vacation in June/July and have the hardest time picking one over the other. We were in Costa Rica last year and loved it, but from what I hear and see, Belize is well worth a visit too. Where in Costa Rica are you going? It will be interesting to hear from someone who is doing CR/Belize back to back. Have a great trip.

There is a map that you can access from the main page of the ambergriscaye.com web site. Click on lodging and then scoll to find a place to click on a local map that shows the location of many resorts and SanPedro town...Very helpful in getting a feel for how things are laid out. Also there is a panoramic photo that allows you to scan the whole beachfront area from Ramons Village in the south to the cut in the north!! Pretty cool!
