Damn - like bees to honey! Must be one sweet ride JZB. So sorry about the bad news and hope that the regular methods will get the vessel recovered again.

I heard yesterday on Love FM that a 25 ft Mexican skiff was stolen from St. George's Caye as well.

You should try putting a GPS in the boat, maybe that would help in the recovery of the boat. Don't feel to bad, I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee stolen 4 times from in front of my house. The last time they caught the kid after he hit a tree while he fled. Good luck finding the boat.

When I was in CC a couple weeks ago, I heard someone had their motor stolen seems that when the economy gets worst the theft rate goes up. Same thing happens all over, except perhaps in those countries which take your hand for theft. Tough punishment but it does have an effect or perhaps the people in those countries are more devote than in the US or Belize. The other solution is to have an extremely ugly boat with an equally ugly motor. Heard of somene throwing paint on a new motor so it looked beat.

The GPS tracking devices are interesting. The issue with GPS technology is that it is one way. The satellites send out a beacon that is received and processed by a receiver. The same satellites cannot be used to receive a signal to report the location of a device. Typically that part is done using cellular technology (usually GSM). The service provider (in our case BTL) has to support the message format and transport protocol - which I'm guessing they don't. If they had one that simply sent you a text with lat/long coordinates, that would be excellent... all of this assuming the thieves were in cellular range.
