Ok, one more thing, we are going to spend 24 days in Belize, going to Caye Caulker, Ambergris Caye, Placencia, and the Cayo District. Does anyone have any advice on how long to spend at each place? Any other suggestions for any other places to go and things not to miss?

I would definitely do Ian Anderson's river cave trip, address is [email protected] Ride horses at Banana Bank, [email protected] It is a great place to stay too, you can hear the jungle sounds at night and they have wildlife on site, you stay in thatched roof cabanas. Visit a few Ruins- Xunantunich and go up into the Pine Ridge area to see Caracol, waterfalls, etc. Lamanai is a great ruins trip and different from the others.

IMHO 1st stop would be Placencia to throttle down. I loved Maya Beach area as it is a string of well-spaced resorts, each self-contained within walking distace of other resorts[Mangos beach car is beau coup fun]. This is lie in a hammock and stare a tthe horizon time--up to a week. then inland which I am not familiar with--3-4 days.
#-5 days to Caye Caulker as you will slightly rachet up the nightlife and have better accessible water trips. Many stay at Turneefe atoll to do Blue Hole as it is along boat ride.
Easily you could do 10-14 days on AC.

After 10 days of fairly early nights and much quality time with wife I was ready for some "diversion". I would try to spend 2 weekends on AC.

If not Tikal then Lamanai
I hear Maruba is tres chic and was featured on Temptation
Do fish as I didn't and regret it. Like going to the Louvre and not seeing the Mona Lisa.
Do a pub crawl north of the cut. golf cart or bike. or water taxi
Will you need a golf cart all day every day? Save a lot by not getting one.
Do go to the Lions club events
do post a trip report
