My husband & I & another family of 4 will be on AC @ the end of December for about a week. We're looking for affordable digs (nothing lavish - we'll be diving!) with a kitchenette or kitchen priviledges that has weekly rental rates.
Any ideas or recommendations?

The Conch Shell Hotel is cheap, clean and has kitchenettes. Sam has been running the place forever. I think he's still there. Dock is at your front door for diving ect. It's right in town on the beach. Easy to everything.

Go for "cheap with a/c", you will spend all your time experiencing the good parts of the island and will only need the place to sleep anyway!

You don't need AC in Dec. If you are on the beachside the breeze makes sleeping very comfortable.

We highly recommend Nellie Gomez at the Paradise Villas. We had a wonderful condo, with separate bedroom & kitchen fully equipped & lots of ceiling fans. There was a/c in bedroom, but we didn't use it.
We had our son with us, and we especially liked the location! A market was 3 doors away, the bakery a few blocks North, and we were close to town for all the restaurants.
We also liked the pool, overlooking the beach. A dive group from North Dakota was there when we were there, they had a place to rinse & hang up their wet suits. There is a docck where you can be picked up for dives.

If you're going with another family, there are upstairs & downstairs units (both have separate patio/balcany), and you can get a connecting door unit.
