October 12th is the day in which the Americas observe Columbus Day, otherwise known as the Day of the Americas or Pan American Day.
Of all the irony in holidays,from mammals laying eggs,to flying reindeer the Americas celebrating Columbus is one of my favorites.

Up here in Canada, we are celebrating Thanksgiving Day on October 12th.

that's because you are all frozen in by the 4th Thursday in November.

klc, fuuuuuuuuuuuuny! I remember when we used to get all of these days as holidays.... what happened?? Columbus day seems like a perfectly good reason to take the day off w/ pay!

Elbert, I do SO love your attitude. Jane and I are sorry we didn't look you up earlier this montth when we were "in country". Hopefully we'll be back in Jan or Feb and we'll try again.
