The Government of Belize has received financing from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments under the project Sustainable Tourism Program, for an experienced and qualified firm to prepare a:

NATIONAL SUSTAINABLE TOURISM MASTER PLAN FOR THE ENTIRE BELIZE TOURISM SECTOR FOR THE PERIOD THROUGH 2030.

The Master Plan is a major deliverable under the policy and planning component of the STP. The objective will be:
To strengthen national and local capacity for tourism sector policy, destination planning and management based on sustainable tourism principles and practices.

The development and finalization of five key destination-specific action plans will be completed as an additional activity within the consultancy, incorporating the principles and approaches of the National Sustainable Tourism Master Plan at the destination level.

Duration of the assignment will be a maximum of 18 months and scheduled to begin in December, 2009.

The Sustainable Tourism Program now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services.

Interested consultants must provide information establishing that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.).

Consultants will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the Inter-American Development Bank: Policies for the Selection and Contracting of Consultants financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (current edition) and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the policies.
