I have been looking on here for the location of the San Pedro Water Taxi terminal in Chetumal (sure I read it on here somewhere, as not on their web site yet!).

Please can someone identify the location? We arrive into Chetumal tomorrow and plan to take the taxi to San Pedro.

Thanks!

They leave from the municipal dock. It is at the end of Ave. Heroes just along from Sam's Club and Hotel Noor.

Or, almost in front of another easy to find building, Palacio Gobierno, the 3-storey white building on the waterfront.

Buy the ticket at the little office before going out onto the pier.

This was a great help, thanks!

So by google maps, it looks like the big pier here:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=18.491578,-88.299211&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=34.534108,79.013672&ie=UTF8&ll=18.492003,-88.299104&spn=0.004965,0.00618&t=h&z=17

Is that right?

Looks like 5KM from the Bus Terminal? Anybody know how much/easy it is to get a taxi from the terminal to the pier? Just wondering how much time I must make sure I have arriving in Chetumal.

Any recomendations for late lunch in the pier area?

Thanks again, I have been trying to find pier location for a while and have had no luck until now.

That link didn't work for me, but the pier is big -- big enough to drive a car out to the end. I know it's visible on Google Earth.

Yes, it's about 5 km from the terminal.

When you exit the bus terminal, turn left and walk to the end of the building. The taxis wait there. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes.

Trip to the pier should take about 10 minutes, and cost about MX$20 (that's pesos), but the taxis don't have meters so the driver could charge anything he/she wants. Definitely should not be more than MX$30. And don't be surprised if the driver picks up other passengers on the way.

I don't know any places to eat in that area of town, but there are a lot of employees in the Government building who eat in the area, so there would have to be something.

Edit to add...
I got the link to work -- that's the pier.

Apparantly it ran aground twice last night and took 5 Hours to get here, so it may have problems that need fixing.
