My boyfriend and I arrive in AC a week from tomorrow!!! We are so excited!! I only wish we had found this board before we booked our accomodations etc. We do feel that we have learned some things about restaurants and bars, though! We will be staying at Seven Seas Resort...any comments on this location? Our flight arrives too late to catch a plane or boat from BZE, so we will stay one night in Belize City -- at the Bellview (unfortunately, I read an unfavorable post on it earlier tonight!) Our plan is to take a boat to AC on Sunday the 25th.
We are looking forward to this trip more than we have ever looked forward to any other trip we have taken, I think! Although it may not be described in so many words, the magic of the island pours out of the posts on this board! Thanks to all of you!!!

What time does your flight arrive? I thought that both airlines flew until all flights were in and people to their destinations.

Our flight is scheduled to arrive at 5:20 p.m. Tropic Air told us that their last flight leaves at 5.

From our experience if there are enough people on the plane Tropic Air will fly you. We were late last Christmas and they flew us in after dark and in the rain. As a rule the BZ government does not want or allow night flying, but exceptions are obviously made.

If you end up staying at the Bellvue, ask for one of the back rooms overlooking the pool. MUCH nicer than the rest. I show Tropic's last flight as 5:40 and Maya's as 5:30. Usually if they know you are arriving on Taca they will wait for you (if you aren't delayed!)

ccla...we stayed at the Seven Seas last September.Very basic rooms,air-conditioning only in the bedroom.Equipped kitchen, old stove & fridge, small microwave, nothing fancy at all but great for the price..leaves you money for meals in town. DO go to Papi's Diner..around the corner from Seven Seas.. they can tell you how to get there, you can't miss it,also a small grocery across the street from Papi's. Only drawback for us is we love to sit by the pool or in the ocean..beach access at SS's is down the ladder from the pier, and the water is great. However, the pool is small (which was OK), and enclosed on all sides by fences or other buildings, so it gets no breeze and it is HOT! We don't dive or snorkel however,we just go to veg, and we were the only people in the pool the entire week! We are going back in Sept, and want to stay where there is an oceanfront pool(the view is better also).OK walk into town, but we rented a golf cart as my husband Scott had a hip problem(just had a joint replacement)and could not do a lot of walking.Make sure you eat at Papi's...great food, good breakfast, wonderful soups, burgers, shrimp cocktails, fresh fish,a great chicken sandwich..all the food was wonderful, and Papi and his family are so neat. When we would go to eat breakfast, his children (they are such beautiful kids!)would be eating their breakfast before they went to school. You can call in an order and they will deliver to the SS's The porches at the SS's are all oceanfront and make for great sitting! Also, don't be afraid to buy the food the children bring around after school. Their mom's cook during the day and the kids sell it..great tamales, flan, meat pies, etc.Food vendors also have great food. Any other questions regarding the SS's, feel free to e-mail us directly at Belize it!

Forgot to add...take the flight over to AC if is worth it, very short flight and I don't like small planes, but it was wonderful! Much faster, more time to spend in AC!

Mary and Scott, thank you so much for all that great information. At this late date, we have decided to stay the night in Belize City and fly into San Pedro the next day. I'm glad to hear someone else doesn't dive and just goes to AC to veg! That'll be me next week!! Papi's sounds delicious! And I look forward to buying some goodies from the children! Well, I guess I should just admit that I am looking forward to everything!
Thanks to everyone for the information and advice!
