It was another great event for the Lions Club of San Pedro as they hosted the elderly folk of San Pedro at their annual Senior Citizen Christmas Dinner on Friday, December 18, 2009. Folks arrived early during the evening to partake in the holiday festivities, planned and prepared by the Lions Club with the assistance of the Belize Bank staff and other eager volunteers.

The senior citizens were entertained by the Lions with lively holiday entertainment, including music serenades, dancing, and presents for all during the night. Later on, hot plates of a traditional turkey and ham dinner were served to the folks, while they enjoyed the delicious food.

As long as we can remember, the San Pedro Lions Club has held this historic and traditional Senior Citizens Christmas Party for folks in San Pedro who are 65 years or older. The San Pedro Lions Club says that the admire and respect the senior citizens of the island and that it brings them joy and happiness to see them enjoying the evening dedicated to them.

Although there are programs like this in the US, it seems to me that the locals in Belize honor the elders more than we do in America, good for them, the pics show the gratitude.
