I am a pretty serious runner and will be on AC for a week in January. I am planning on doing some running to stay in shape and am wondering if anyone has any thoughts/imput on where to go. I would like to do 5-8 miles at a time. I am staying south of San Pedro and I would guess there isn't that much to choose from since there are only a few roads on the island. Is running on the beach possible, or is the sand too soft?
Also, is it common to see locals or visitors running for exercise or will I be looked at funny, even though either way I don't really care, I will be doing it anyways. The weather/temperature is not a problem for me since I have lived in the Caribbean and ran plenty in 90 degree sun.

I usually come down in the Feb/ March timeframe and run from the south up north to the cut and back along the beach. Pretty easy run really. I highly recommend the beach over the roads - a good portion of the beach is compact sand and there also is quite a bit of concrete walkway and a bit of wooden boardwalk along the way (by Ramons).
