Looking to return to the cayes with extended family including a 2, 4, 11 and 16 yr old. in February for a week. Lived on Caye Caulker and only stayed overnight in San pedro when partying back in the day, so not too familiar with the range of current hotels. Would like something nice w some sort of beach area and not too far out of town. Some input would be very much appreciated.

How many bedrooms would you need? Price range? You might like a private house/villa rental like Casa Caracol (2 units, upper with 2 bedrooms and lower with 3 bedrooms) N of town in a kid friendly residential area, or one of the larger units associated with a hotel like Banana Beach with 1 - 4 bedroom units, Xanadu or The Phoenix with 1 - 3 bedroom units, The Palms or Paradise Villas with 1 & 2 bedroom units. Lots of choices, depends on location, price and amenities needed. We were in San Pedro in September with 2 children and 3 adults...children 13 and 16...stayed at Costa Maya Reef and it was WONDERFUL...Our children did not want to leave...2 bedroom at Costa Maya was large enough for all of us....very spacious.
