My husband proposed on our first trip to San Pedro, and we came back to get married the following summer. We are now making plans to come down for our 5th, and need to get caught up!

We stayed at Corona Del Mar both times, and I have not seen much on the boards about them lately. I know that Woody passed away shortly after our wedding. When we stayed, we were allowed to use the pool at the hotel next door on the south side. I don't see anything listed there anymore. I remember rumors back when about building a casino. Can anyone tell me what is going on there? Any construction?

These board were a huge help for those first 2 trips, and put me in touch with folks from the Lions clinic, and we were able to bring down OTC stuff for them. Do they still need donations?

Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Corona del Mar is still going strong. Lots of repeat guests as usual. I don't know about the pool issue. Maybe someone else will chime in about that, or you could email the hotel and ask.
I am sure the Lion's Club clinic still needs donations.
They did make the function room at the Yacht Club into a casino but it was short lived and is not open at this time, as far as I know.

Thanks, Barbara!

I wish I rememebered the name of the hotel next door, Rasta Pasta was in there for a short lived time. My two main questions about the location are: is a pool available and is there major construction next door. I'll email Corona with the first, but I'd like an unbiased answer on the construction.

Nice to be back on the boards, really makes coming down feel real.

Playador was the hotel with Rasta Pasta in the upstairs restaurant for a while. Now that hotel is called Exotic Caye Beach Resort and Rasta Pasta moved to many different locations on & off the island and now is no longer (except in memory!)
The hotel on the other side was probably under construction when you were here last but it is built now so shouldn't be any other major construction nearby. The barge outfront is even moved!
I am guessing you could still use the pool at Exotic Caye if you buy a few drinks or lunch....

I thought Corona del Mar used to have an agreement with Coconuts about using their pool. That was several owners ago, as far as Coconuts is concerned.
