This is just in from a friend....

We've been monitoring the progress of the new Belize Water Services (BWS) water plant over the past year and we have an update for you... We thought you might be interested...


Earlier today, I went by the new water plant to have a look at it's recent progress. It's looking GREAT! Some of the the 'reverse osmosis' equipment has now been unpacked from the shipping container and is placed in the second floor room where it will be housed. This was my first look at the equipment, I've heard for a long time that it was in a container ready to be installed when the building was ready. And here it is!


There are several wells on the property, ranging from 45' to 60' in depth. This will supply the water plant with sufficient water for the whole island. The entire first floor of the building is a massive, massive water storage tank, divided into several compartments. This will store the purified water after it passes through the RO equipment. Then, the water will be pumped through the brand new water distribution system that is now completed.


The new water plant is big news for Caye Caulker, we look forward to it being completed. One source said it might be ready by Easter, another said September... You never know. In any case, I believe we are nearing completion of the project and THAT's progress!


I've also heard that BWS will be extending a water main to Caye Caulker North at some point. I haven't heard a date yet though...
