We're almost there!!! Leaving 3/26 and just tooo damn excited!
Anyway, one of our party wants to pack a cooler full of food, probably steaks and I don't what eles (I do not share his mind set on this at all after reading the board and hearing about all the great resturants) but I wonder if there are food stuffs you can not bring into the country of Belize. Fruits? Vegtables? Meats?
I've tried to talk him out of this but he says he doesn't want to go out every night(we are on VACATION arn't we I argue but to no avail) Also there are smokers among us. Can we bring in cartons of smokes or can you buy american smokes on AC? Are they cheeper there than at home? Any pointers would really help.
See ya down island! Lynnie

We were going to take frozen meat with us last year but didn't. Had no problem with customs but am not sure if your friend would have a problem or not. If you took meat in your luggage, frozen with those "ice" packs, I don't think you would have a problem, but again, locals to the board may have more information. We were glad that we didn't take anything more than snack food, because as you mentioned, the food in AC is so reasonable you don't need to bring much. Have a great time!

We've taken frozen meat in a few times with no problem but have heard of others who did get stopped in customs. You are required to have a permit, which takes some time to get. I would suggest you do not bring in fruits and veggies. There are plenty on the island and they are tasty.

Good Luck and enjoy.

Generally you are allowed 1 cartin of smokes per person. This site indicates that American smokes run $4.50 per pack so give the non-smokers some to bring also.

You will have NO problem finding food you like and smokes you will enjoy in San Pedro. Comparable local items will suit just about any taste . . . unless you are real J.A.P.

We had a little food with us when we arrived, but they took our apple left from the plane. Do NOT take in fruit. Enjoy your trip--the place is fantastic!
