Leaving in 5 short days and wonder about buying travellers checks. Should you get BZ$ at the airport when we get to Belize City? Do most of the local shops etc. prefer to be paid in local currency or US$.
Sure have enjoyed this message board while preparing for this trip & will post a report when we return.

I allways take some cash and travelers checks, if you lose or worse yet get ripped off of your cash you are SOL, if the same happens with travelers checks and you do as the bank tells you to do, keep your receipts separate from your checks, you should have some cash back to you in awhile after filing a claim. Also once you are there find out who gives the best exchange rate. They claim the exchange rate is two Belize for one US. But I have found in past travels of other areas the exchange rate is different from place to place.

Thanks for the e mail, one is coming your way soon.
