Read a post last night on this board that stated to deal directly with each boat operator instead of organizing with your resort and you will save $$$$$. Is this true? Will be arriving AC, Banyon Bay 4-14 and was thinking about booking trips now (CC, Mex Rks, Hol Chan, Shark, Lamani, etc.) Is this neccessary? Can I wait until we arrive? Do you save money dealing with each boat operator or go through your resort? (Save money, HA!, kids will spend it as fast as I try to save!)

Also, last question - it seems "everyone" hypes these above mentioned snorkel trips. Are there other snorkel locations, trips out there that are "Hidden Gems"? Thanks!

We (ten of us) stayed at Banyan Bay March 7-14, you are going to love it!! Seven of us are divers and we had booked our diving with the dive shop at Banyan Bay (Bottom Time Divers-GREAT-would use again in a heartbeat) before arriving. However, 2 of the days the current was too strong and the dive boats did not go out. They made the $$$ adjustments for us. Some of the trips you mentioned, such as Lamanai and Blue Hole, are weather dependant. We did not book these until we arrived and had no problem. Three of the women with us do not dive, but do snorkel. They would just go down to the pier at Banyan Bay the night before they wanted to snorkel and sign up, boats go in the morning at 9AM or in the afternoon at 2PM. It was great and Bottom Time was very accommodating! From everything we encountered, it was the same price if we went through the dive shop before arriving or just on the spot. Lamanai prices are pretty standard....$125!

Have a great time!! I'm jealous!! Pamela

I'm addicted!! Check this board every hour! Thanks PamO for your insite. No divers in this group (4), just top feeders.

Right know for the "hyped" trips, I'm looking towards Winnie Estelle, Tanisha and Hustler Tours. Does Bottom Time Divers make these arrangements or do we take the trips w/BTD??

Where are the "Hidden Gems"!!! There has got to be some.

i liked to snorkel mexico rocks & hol chan. i missed "the aquarium" last trip, but hear it is a "must do". i think you can book snorkel trips as you go. big trips like lamani may have to book in advance. i have heard about trips cancelled for low enrollment, and you may miss out. or they dont go the day you were thinking about.

Bottom Time Divers do all their own snorkel and dive trips. You just walk out on the pier at Banyan Bay and hop in the boat...they also had quality equipment for rent if needed. They booked our Blue Hole trip with Amigos Del Mar as only a few shops go all the way out there. Amigos was also very good!

Bottom Time Divers can arrange Lamanai trip for you. We went with Daniel Nunez from Tanisha Tours. He is great! I highly recommend him. He makes the Lamanai trip on Tuesday's, Thursday's and Saturday's if I remember correctly. We went on Saturday and the boat was full. Pamela
