Hi there, I am coming to Caya Caulker in May, around the 15th with my new wife. This will be for our honeymoon but we are experienced travellers and we are looking at where to stay.

We like the sound of da real maccaw guest house. Ideally we want somewhere nice but not somewhere we have to get dressed for dinner.

Also any other tips gratefully received!

You really don't have to "dress for dinner" anywhere on the island, with anything more than flip flops you are nearly going to be over dressed.

Is nude dining even allowed?

We stayed at Lee Side Rooms last year.

http://www.cayecaulkerrentals.com/lee_side_rooms.htm

It's on the east side, quiet, has it's own dock with sunsets. Easy walking distance to everything, as everywhere is on Caulker. The owner lives upstairs & is a character. Let us use his kayak & bicycles. We wouldn't hesitate to go back. If this one doesn't excite you, we found the agent Amanda, whose email address is on the page, very helpful. She can probably recommend something that suits you.

We stayed at Jan's Place a couple of times. We were in the house but they have 2 apartments next to it. Its on the northern part up toward the Split.

Scroll down and you can see pictures of the apartments.

We also stayed at the Beachside Cottage. We really liked it too. Its a little south of the airport and gives you a very pleasant walk to town. http://www.cayecaulkerrentals.com/indexpricing.htm

Adding to the above suggestions......

The Oasi (http://www.holidaybelize.com/) is a great place, quiet and has bikes, etc. you can use.

Iguana Reef Inn (http://iguanareefinn.com/index.htm)is in my opinion the nicest place on the island-managed by real pros.

You never said what your budget was, but there are getting to be some really nice-what I would call upper end places on the island.

cayecaulkerbelize.net
gocayecaulker.com

Both of these sites have a map with links to most of the motels on the island.
