Attention all Customers
We at Marelco your Yamaha distributor would like to report to you that it is alleged that the gas stations in Belize are mixing the foreign fuel with the local fuel produced in Belize or using the local fuel for sale at gas stations. This is also happening to vehicles but now it is happening to outboard motors. The mixed fuel, it is alleged, increases the operating temperature of the engine thus causing the engine to get hotter than normal. This then causes the engine to break up.
We are suggesting that for the 2-stroke engines, instead of the usual ratio 1 quart of oil to 10 - 12 gallons of fuel, that as a temporary counter measure you start using 1 quarts of oil to 10 - 12 gallons of fuel. We believe that this might help to save your engine. When fueling your engine at any gas station please ask them if they are selling the mixed fuel, because this fuel will damage your engine and you should avoid using it if possible.
Many engines have been broken up because of the alleged inferior fuel, so please be careful as it can happen to you.
Please remember that we only suspect that it is the fuel that is causing the damage to the engines, but we are trying to get concrete evidence. The bottom line is that engines that go to the fuel stations, after a while break up. You be the judge. Please investigate on your own.
