I am getting 2 hives (here at my place in the States) in May & 2 packages of bees. I am so excited!
However, I am interested in honey production in Belize and wonder how they deal with the Africanized bee problem there. Here I can just re-queen every year with a queen from a reputable apiary elsewhere in the country, but what do they do in Belize to avoid the AHB genetics? Or do they just deal with them?

I would love to see some one set up some hives up north. I have a lot of honey bees coming to my hummingbird feeders as there are not a lot of flowers in bloom now. A while back friends found their bodega full of bees and instead of corralling them into a hive an exterminator came and killed them. boo hoo
