I always love your underwater shots, elbert!

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

It's got venomous spines, but the scorpionfish is endemic to this reef.

Scorpionfish have been here forever and are harmonious with the reef.
They have a contradiction, they have a powerful defense weapon and most creatures that do don't evolve with camouflage.
camouflage is for the defenseless creatures protection.
hummmm i bet he eats things that wander to close because of the camouflage.

Thanks Elbert. On my first trip to Turneff in Jan. '01 I almost put my finger on one in order to steady myself to take a picture of some really beautiful coral. My dive buddy slapped my hand away causing the scorpion fish to flare his fins. That's when I saw him and did get two quick shots off.
These critters are just one more reason to not touch the reef.
Are they usually at depth?

I wee them from 40 to 80 feet.
I think it gets to surgeie for most creatures shallower than 40'.
