I would love to be able to Kyaka to the north end of the island and camp on the beach for a few days. But I would like to know if that is ok since it is a nature preserve.

Bacalar Chico is the name of the reserve. They have recently developed a very nice visitors centre and I was told there is a camp site associated with this. Whether this is open to individuals, I do not know, but their email is [email protected]

Are you talking about Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye?

Would be helluva a Kayak trip to Bacalar Chico from Caye Caulker LOL I think he means the north part of Caye Caulker.

whoops. Sorry about that. I didn't see which thread it was on.

Much of the property on the north island is privately owed. The far north end of the island is a preserve, I think this is the area Dane referrs to. I'd rather not have someone camp on my front yard. There are a few people who live on that side most I would say aren't looking for people camping in their yards either. Between the mosquitos and no'seeums not the best camp site.

I've heard that Glovers Reef is the place to camp.
