We attended a lecture yesterday evening at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, presented by Dr. Jaime Awe, whose topic was "Ancient Maya Cave Use and the Conservation of Subterranean Sites in Western Belize.” Dr. Awe is the Director of the Institute of Archaeology in the National Institute of Culture in Belize.
It was a fascinating lecture, especially since we had been in Barton's Creek cave earlier this year (which he talked about). We'll do ATM next year before heading to San Pedro for diving.
His talk was facilitated in part by The Nature Conservancy, Tennessee Chapter: http://www.nature.org/wherewework/northamerica/states/tennessee/press/press4419.html
