Can anyone tell me where I can buy some futon couches? No one in Belize city seems to have any in stock, anywhere else I can try? Phone numbers would be appreciated too if you have them handy!!

Lea's furniture in San Ignacio has nice ones they make from Belizean Hardwood.

I bought two from Dave's furniture world a couple of years ago, the kind with the painted metal frame. Sorry no phone numbers.

C's Furniture, San Pedro. Basic but functional Mahogany frame, Mennonite made. Bought one there a few years back. Try them at 226 4037

Thanks guys. I tried Dave's with the metal backing last week and they were all out. Does C' furniture include mattresses? The price sounds right.

Mirab's in Belize City had a new shipment a few months back with an updated design (frame not exposed) but they were pricey - pretty cool though.

We got one at C's. Very nice and built really, really, heavy.

We were there on Thursday and Mirabs only has the flip type couches / no futons. Good to know that C's has them (they were closed yesterday, so have to figure out their hours). We will be outfitting a whole house now, so need bedroom and living room stuff. The furniture at Mirabs looks fairly nice, but not as sturdy as we would like smile

I think the only folks in San Pedro who stock real "futon" mattress fold down couch-beds are Hummingbird Wicker and Rattan.
A real futon mattress is thick & heavy and stuffed with natural fibre. So if that is what you mean by "futon", the place to go is probably Hummingbird.
The fold-down couches at Mr. C's are both affordable & nice looking. They have a 4" piece of foam for the cushion. Kids seem to sleep in them just fine, but bigger bodies may find this cushion lacking support and comfort.
