If one wants to travel into Guatamala from Belize, is there a departure fee or entry fee back into Belize?

The last time I did it, LM, I paid an exit fee at Benque - just can't remember how much. I was given a receipt and was told that upon departing from Goldson, I would be credited this amount from the departure tax. Of course, flying CO it is prepaid. Try getting THAT back!!! Best to just suck it up and consider it a donation to GOB smile

If you can't remember how much, it was probably insignificant. I am trying to figure out logistics of getting to Tikal for a couple of nights if I am on the mainland - doesn't have to be by plane, looking for an adventure!

Departing Belize: There are fees to pay when departing Belize.

Entering Belize: no fees.

Here are a couple of links to more details...

I think there is an entry fee to Guatemala.

It was insignificant, but then I consider the BZ departure tax as insignificant as well. But much less, seriously.

You know the SA area pretty well, no? Talk to one of the local van operators, sorry no names I recall. Negotiate a driver/vehicle. Of ocurse, there is always the bus...........or hitchhike! (KIDDING!!!!)

LaurieMar,

Regarding logistics, you probably already know that Tropic Air flies to Flores from PGIA.

Another option: water taxi to BC, get one of the express buses to Flores. More details about the bus schedules, fares, etc. here:

Or, get to San Ignacio and join one of the organised tours. Pacz tends to get good comments.

Last time I crossed into Guatemala by land at the Benque/Melchor border crossing, in summer 2009, I paid:

US$18.75 per person Belize exit fee
25 quetzales per person entry fee into Guatemala (about US$3)

Coming back:

No exit fee from Guatemala
No entrance fee to Belize
