Jesse was, I think, being sarcastic. But that's okay -- he's still an old sweetie.
Peter Eltringham wasn't well enough to do most of the last edition of Rough Guide. Offhand I can't recall the names of the young people who did the research for the last update, but I've got their names somewhere. Don't know if the same people will do the next edition, or not.
The great thing about Peter and his book was that he had been doing Rough Guide for years and years. He had a long history in Guatemala and Belize and was very concerned about getting stuff right. Most of the other guides, like LP, go through a different writer every year or two. Which is understandable, because the guidebooks don't pay much.
I've been doing Fodor's Belize (and before that Fodor's Belize & Guatemala) for over a dozen years, maybe longer, my memory fades, but this is a young person's game.
In the tourism business, things change constantly. It's impossible to stay totally up to date, unless you publish only on the internet and update the information weekly or so.
