On Friday the town of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye
inaugurated its new fire station. The facility, located
on Middle Street near the centre of the community,
was built largely by the firemen themselves at a cost
of ninety thousand dollars. The station will house two
fire trucks as well as office space, training room and
watchtower. In August a third permanent officer will
be assigned to the island's fire department, in an
effort to prevent the kind of disaster which struck San
Pedro in November of 2000. The three permanent
firemen will be assisted by a large corps of volunteer
personnel.

Congratulations San Pedro!!!!
It's no surprise to me, to see how this community filled a need on it's own. The people of San Pedro have incredible determination, spirit and a caring attitude. This labor of love, will no doubt save lives and property and is a testiment to their tireless dedication to community.
