Any recommendations on snorkel trips?
Shark Ray Alley or Bacalar Chico?

Thanks!

if you have never been, you really should make sure to see hol chan and shark ray alley (they are usually done on the same trip). i guarantee you will be happy you did.

Have heard Mexico Rocks is good, too. Gonna go there on my next visit.

Is snorkeling at the Blue Hole worth the premium over Mexico reef and other places?

It costs $185 vs $40 for other places.

Not in my opinion. Now I'll qualify that by saying, if you want a full day, that includes lunch on an idyllic caye and the bragging rights, erm, I mean to say, the personal satisfaction of having snorkeled the rim of one of earth's greatest points of interest, then it may well be worth the extra money.

If you just want to do some fine snorkeling and watch your budget, then, enjoy Mexico Rocks, Hol Chan, etc.

If you get good weather, it is one helluva a great way to spend the day.

If you are only worried about the money, then don't go. If you aren't worried about the money, but want to have a day that you will especially remember, then do go!

to me, its just as cool to say, yeah, i've snorkeled the largest reef in our hemisphere & swam with 6 ft southern stingrays & nurse sharks.

in 15 trips, i've chosen never to see the blue hole. i don't need to impress anyone, i just want a good snorkel. blue hole or not, make sure you see hol chan too.

you want to impress someone for $140? go to Lamanai Ruins, be IN the rain forest & climb the main pyramid. THAT is bound to impress anyone! LOL!

there is so much more to Belize then the blue hole. i can say in full confidence that whatever you choose, you will have fun and be amazed.

Well, Jane, in my second post, I was actually talking about impressing oneself . . .bucket list and all that.

Hol Chan & Shark Ray & Mexico rocks all great spots to go. If your hotel has kayaks and they have buoys set up at the reef I highly recommend that option as well.

When we were up north this weekend you could almost walk to the reef but a few spots were slightly overhead so had to swim it a bit.
